Sleep Number SleepIQ Review

As a part of my mission for Smiley 360, I visited the Sleep Number store at Towson Mall to learn more about SleepIQ. For completing my mission, I will receive a free product from Smiley360.

I'm somewhat familiar with Sleep Number beds. Two couples in my family have them and have raving reviews about their Sleep Number beds. When I went to the store, I was presented with an overview of the beds. I learned that the SleepIQ is available in all (new) Sleep Number beds. A few of my friends use sleep tracking apps on their phones. They tell me that they turn on the app, and leave the phone near their pillow, or under their pillow. Seems pretty inconvenient when it falls out of the bed or conks you in the head.

The SleepIQ is contained fully within the bed. I also like that it is available at the time of purchase, or after it can be added to any (new) Sleep Number bed.

I was impressed with the amount of information that the bed can track. Not only does it track amount of sleep based upon movement in the bed, but it also monitors and tracks breathing and heart rates. This information is then coupled with information that the user inputs into the app.

I was shown a mock-up of the app at the store and it seems rather user friendly. The recommendations that the app gives seem great! I was told the app can recommend the best times to eat and exercise for the most restful nights sleep.

The only down-fall that I can foresee is that a user may not regularly input his/her diet, exercise, medication, etc data which could skew the sleep monitoring information. The price can add a significant amount, but compared to smartphone type apps, SleepIQ gathers much more data and gives more concrete, evidence-based suggestions based on each user.

As a nurse, anything that can give me suggestions for a better night's sleep is useful to me!
